Clover
Clover was my first major product experience. During our tenure at The Regime, my business partner and I were finding ourselves continually recreating the same types of websites for our friends starting churches. This was the pre-Squarespace era, so the idea of using a website template to create a marketing website was not yet a thing. We found product market fit by creating one of the first templated website-building tools for the church and non-profit market, with our differentiators being our WYSIWYG website editor (called "the Greenhouse") and our modern, beautiful front-end websites.
Outcomes:
We quickly became the market leader, with our company having to grow and adapt to the rapid expansion over our 7 years in business. We grew our client base to 15,000+ customers and achieved $5M+ in ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue). We also launched an additional product in the space in 2012 called "Clover Donations", offering an affordable solution to 501c3 organizations desiring to receive donations online. Leveraging our extensive client list and UX ecosystem, we built our donations platform to process $500M+.
Ultimately, we were able to exit the company via sale in 2015, yielding a 10x multiple.
